The HNADA necklace is part of the NGEI collection, inspired by the Kanak artifacts from Kanaky -New Caledonia, a small island located in the Pacific. The concept of NGEI is to juxtapose the ancient artefacts next to their futuristic version and thus re-question the mutation/adaptation of customs. The research process behind the project has also been a way to come back to the island's roots, and re question the impacts of colonization on education and identity.
Each object contains specific references taken from travellers’ discovery diaries and traditional legends. The pieces then become much more than simple jewelry, they become futuristic artefacts; « charged with symbols that convey our past values and identities into the future. »
This necklace is inspired by the the flèches faîtières (arrow sculptures), wooden sculptures standing on top of the huts cases of the tribes chiefs. It is believed to be a portal to the other world and a guide for the spirits. HNADA means "first" in Nengoné, Kanak language.
HNADA symbolizes one of the most powerful symbols of Kanaky -New Caledonia, giving strength and empowerment to its wearer. The necklace consists of a 5cm pendant and a 68cm chain. For those opting for the gold-plated version, we use a 14k gold plate, adding a touch of elegance to this meaningful and empowering piece.
Part of the profits of this collection is donated to local artists and organisations to support art and creation within the island.
